VR for Impact began in January 2017 as a $10 million dollar grant fund pledged by HTC Vive to drive the development of content that fosters positive impact in the real world. Modeled after the United Nations Development Goals, the program initially started as a call for participation that encouraged developers to share their ideas for experiences that would help reshape the world. Since then, we’ve received thousands of applications which have inspired us and have unequivocally proven the merit of VR towards positively affecting the world.
VR for Impact is evolving towards a community oriented framework that enables a greater level of transparency, participation, and community-based collaberation. We hope you will find this forum to be a place where you can discuss your ideas with others, share knowledge and resources, and find common ground with people working towards similar visions.

This is Dominic, Head of VR EMEAI for Nvidia and founder of aVRica.ngo - an initiative to use the learning advantage of VR to bring better education to developing countries.
My background is in the entertainment industry: I've worked at Rockstar Games before quitting my job to go all-in with Virtual Reality and co-found realities.io - now I'm heading up the EMEAI VR business for Nvidia. I'm also a huge community fan - I've helped start the largest VR communities on the web on reddit, have founded the Virtual Reality Germany meetup group and am a founding member of EUVR.org, a non-profit organization to push the envelope for the European VR ecosystem.
In short: I'm a huge VR enthusiast I truly believe that VR will create a better humankind and am looking forward to share this enthusiasm with like-minded people in this community!
P.S.: I had the chance to hold a TEDx talk about VR and its applications in health, training and education – here's the link in case anyone's interested

I loved your TEDx talk. .
Perhaps down the line I can get you to join one of my #CPDinVR panel discussions (https://www.virtualiteach.com/cpd-in-vr)
I think a lot of educators would like to hear from you!

Steve Bambury here from Dubai.
Suppose I better tell you a bit about me...
I am Head of Digital Learning and Innovation across JESS Dubai where I work with staff, students, parents and school leaders to help them develop their use of education technology.
I am an Apple Distinguished Educator as well as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert and Master Trainer. I am also a global ambassador for Book Creator, Nearpod, Seesaw and Minecraft Education Edition.
I am a two time winner of the GESS Award for Best Use of ICT (biggest educational awards in the Middle East) and I've presented at events across the MENA region and beyond as well as delivering remote CPD for organisations including The University of Southern California, Fairmont Prep, The British School of Caracas and more.
I am the founder of the award-winning iPad Educators website, sharing best practice in the use of the iPad in the classroom. The site has been running since 2014 and is recognised globally as a hub of innovative iPad based projects.
A few weeks ago I launched VirtualiTeach.com - a new site to share ideas, projects and theory related to the use of virtual and augmented reality in education. Alongside this, I launched my #CPDinVR events and in June 2017, I became the first educator to ever host educational professional development sessions inside virtual reality. (using Engage)
Looking forwards to collaborating with you all.

This is Chris from Greece.
Good to see people so passionate about VR and its applications as I am. I am psychologist with expertise in brain science and a huge VR fan. I totally agree with Dominic that VR will shape our future and influence every single domain of our lives.
I have been a VR developer for the past 2-2,5 years. Because of my background I am more interested in projects related to health, education and various social issues(poverty, homelessness, disability).
Last summer, I attended a VR/AR Academy in Spain where I won my first prize, teaming up with two other VR maniacs from Spain and the Netherlands. Our idea was to make interactive games to provide VR pediatric neurorehabilitation. Last October, we won our second prize after participating in an ICT Entrepreneurship Bootcamp in Brussels. After 1 year, thing haven't gone as expected but this was my first attempt to put some of my VR ideas into practisea and I am pretty much satisfied with the outcome and with all the things I learned during that journey.
At the moment, the VR scene in Greece is very underdeveloped which has a good and bad side. There are people involved in VR and there is a growing Greek Unity Community of more than 1000 people but there isn't any space/hub/initiative that will bring all those people together. This was one of the reasons I move to the UK for 6 months to work exclusively on a VR project and meet other VR enthusiasts. As you might already know, VR/AR/MR technologies are quite a hot topic in the UK with many new VR labs opening and new VR accelerators launching every month!
I am looking for other people to collaborate/share ideas and help me/us establish a VR hub in Athens, Greece. Good to know that I am not the only one who believes in a VR revolution.
VR for Impact is a great initiative. Hope to benefit from this program one day!
Nice to meet you all and hope we could bring VR to the next level,

Please can you advise on the timeline and process for giving feedback to applicants?
It is disheartening that the only email we have recieved is that "first grants have been awarded" ... in April, with zero feedback since.
If applications have not been successful, can you please notify applicants? If they are still 'in the queue', please can you say what the queue is and when decisions will be made?
There are no contact details on your website or emails, and no news updates on the website. This doesn't send a good signal.
Thanks in advance,
