Re: Wireless adapter incompatible with RYZEN cpus

Just set mine up last night and same situation--Beat Saber works for a long time, but other games only a few minutes and then either a hard crash/reboot or BSOD.

Specs:

AMD RYZEN 7 1700X 8-Core 3.4 GHz (3.8 GHz Turbo) YD170XBCAEWOF

EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 GAMING, 11G-P4-6696-KR

GIGABYTE GA-AX370-Gaming K5 (rev. 1.0) AM4 AMD X370 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI ATX AMD

Re: Wireless adapter incompatible with RYZEN cpus

@Sad2077x I have your exact config. I had to swap MOBO with an ASRock AB350 Pro4 Motherboard. ASRock MOBOs seem to have good luck atm. My wireless works without a hitch for the longest time now. Had to sacrifice my NVMe SSD in order to use my 2 GPUs though cause with the ASRock AB350 its one or the other haha

Re: Wireless adapter incompatible with RYZEN cpus

Doesn't the windows event log show anything to give any clues why this is happening? I want to ditch intel and go with AMD but this really is the worst thing to happen since buying the adapter. The only thing preventing me from going to Ryzen :/

Re: Wireless adapter incompatible with RYZEN cpus

@ymo1965 $70ish fix. Get yourself an ASRock AB350 PRO 4 motherboard. Disable Vive camera. Profit.

I use this MOBO and have talked to at least 2 others who also have it and have zero issue. Yeah it's a B350, but it works. Read the specs to make sure it can handle everything in your rig.

Re: Wireless adapter incompatible with RYZEN cpus

Be interesting to know why this board seems to be the one to fix it. What's wrong with the others? Sadly that board doesn't have enough slots for me. It's only about 3 stars on amazon too. Is this an intel drivers issue? Is HTC checking incompatibilities with boards or are they focusing more on software? Me thinks I'll be waiting some time for a definitive answer. I'm annoyed as hell. I don't wanna fork out £400 for a cpu. These Ryzens are far better value. Certainly an oversight with AMD or HTC.

You talking the ATX, or Mico ATX?

Re: Wireless adapter incompatible with RYZEN cpus

I have same issue, however no actual BSOD, just a hard computer lock up and never coming back. (Waited for 30 mins to see if it would unfreeze.)

System Specs:

Newegg Wishlist (Actually bought all of these exact Items from newegg)

SSD Is my OS drive.

Wireless adapter has seen every PCI-E slot, and is only detected in te 2.0 1x and 4x respectively. No BIOS changes would change this or make it function for any longer than 1 or 2 minutes.

I Updated all Firmware/Drivers on the lighthouses, Controllers, SteamVR, Viveport, etc. Nothing helped the issue.

If you would like any additional hardware/Software information, let me know.

It's been a month now. I would love nothing more than to enjoy wireless VR like all the intell guys.

Re: Wireless adapter incompatible with RYZEN cpus

Must of looked at the wrong one. Im needing ATX. I have always been an Asus user so unsure how I would feel going to another brand. Not only that, I need a board I can OC. Cheers

Re: Wireless adapter incompatible with RYZEN cpus

Yep really frustrating. The friday black sales are on and not flippin' sure which setup/build i'm heading for. Bloody problem just had to happen. I've a right mind to go intel and be done with it. Far easier in the long run. Just heard from Hexus website that intel cpu's possibly going up even more :/

Re: Wireless adapter incompatible with RYZEN cpus

Ouch. Sounds like a BIOS issue HTC can't fix with a firmware update. No motherboard company is going to release a special patch just for HTC.

Thanks for the timley response, Dave.

Re: Wireless adapter incompatible with RYZEN cpus

Thats a bummer. Cant believe HTC didnt catch the problem before launch. I think they are gonna take a big hit with all the units being returned. Probably cheaper for them just to send out  motherboards to all the ryzen owners.

Re: Wireless adapter incompatible with RYZEN cpus

I experience the same issues with the wireless adapter as the others already described.

Maybe it is helpful for the developers to know all affected devices so I also post mine here:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700X, 8x 3.4GHz, 16MB L3 Cache

MBO: ASUS ROG Strix X370-F GAMING, AMD X370, So. AM4

GRA: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080, 8GB (ASUS STRIX-GTX1080-A8G-GAMING)

RAM: 8GB DDR4-2666, Corsair Vengeance LPX black, Rev S

Hope that helps.

I have the micro ATX and it seems to work for me.
