I am in the situation where I am using an Alienware 13 Laptop with an Amp for my 1080TI; there are no additional PCIe slots. So I'll need a breakout box with a PCIe slot. The issue is that all the boxes which might work which I can find on Amazon (for example) all use Thunderbolt3 to connect, which my laptop at least does have.
I do have some questions...
Is the WiGig card compatible or have drivers to work with a Thunderbolt3 system?
Does the WiGig card need any additional power or will it be okay as plug and play and power from the laptop?
The wireless adapter is currently only designed for use with desktop motherboards. We do not recommend attempting to use a breakout box at this time, the odds of it working successfully are slim at this point in time. This gets extremely hardware and driver specific very quickly hence we do not recommend attempting it.
