FAQ - Viveport Subscription

What is Viveport Subscription?

 

In addition to purchasing content from the Viveport store, customers also have the option to enjoy premium VR content through Viveport Subscription. Customers pay a low fee to enjoy a limited number of apps each month (currently 5).

 

How do I sign up for Viveport Subscription?

 

Click here to visit the sign-up page. Alternatively, visit Viveport.com. If you are not logged in on Viveport.com, click the banner to get details about Viveport Subscription and sign up. If you are logged in, click the ‘Subscription’ tab to sign up.

 

Which titles are available as part of Viveport Subscription?

Hundreds of Viveport titles are available as part of Viveport Subscription, and more are being added on a regular basis. If a title is included, it is noted on the title's product page (look for the 'Download' button). These products are also listed on your Viveport Subscription page after sign-up, where they are selected and added to your current selection.

 

How does the Viveport Subscription free trial work?

 

New users are eligible for a 14-day free trial of Viveport Subscription. You will be able to select, download and experience up to 5 different VR experiences in that time. Your payment details are required during sign-up, but you will not be charged until your free 14-day trial period ends, at which point you will be billed for your first full month of Viveport Subscription at the usual monthly rate. You may cancel your Viveport Subscription at any time from your account profile page. If you cancel before your 14-day trial ends, you will still be able to use Viveport Subscription until the trial period is over.

 

How does the free trial for Viveport Subscription included with a new HTC Vive work?

 

New purchasers of an HTC Vive will find a content code in the box, which is redeemed here. Upon redemption this grants you a code for a two-month Viveport Subscription. This is redeemed as a pre-paid plan. Similar to our free 14-day trial, your payment details are required during sign-up, but you will not be charged until your free two-month trial period ends. After this, you will be billed for your first full month of Viveport Subscription at the usual monthly rate. You may cancel your Viveport Subscription at any time from your account profile page. If you cancel before your two-month trial ends, you will still be able to use Viveport Subscription until the trial period is over.

 

When will I be charged for my subscription?

 

If you are signing up for Viveport Subscription for the first time, you will not be charged until your free trial period ends. Your selected method of payment will then be automatically charged on a monthly basis. You may change your payment method or cancel at any time.

 

Please note, when clicking 'sign up' on the subscription page, you will be prompted to enter payment details. This is required, but you will not be charged until your free trial period ends.

 

If you have previously had a Viveport Subscription, upon re-subscribing, you will be charged for the first month’s subscription upon sign-up. Your selected method of payment will then be automatically charged on a monthly basis.

 

How do I find out when my subscription will renew?

 

You can check your subscription’s renewal dates on your account profile page:

 

  1. Web browser: Sign in to your HTC account on Viveport.com. Click your avatar in the upper right corner, then click ‘Subscription’ to see details.
  2. Mobile: Sign in to your HTC account on Viveport.com. Select the top-right menu, then select ‘Subscription’ to see details.
  3. Desktop client: Launch the Vive Desktop client on your PC and sign in to your HTC Account, if required. Click your avatar in the upper right corner, then click ‘Subscription’ to see details.

 

Where can I see my monthly title selections?

 

You can access and review your monthly subscription selections on your Subscription page:

 

  1. Web browser: Sign in to your HTC account on Viveport.com. Click ‘Subscription’ to see your title selections.
  2. Mobile: Sign in to your HTC account on Viveport.com. Select the 'Store' menu, then select ‘Subscription’ to see details.
  3. Desktop client: Launch the Vive Desktop client on your PC and sign in to your HTC Account, if required. Click ‘Subscription’ to see your title selections.

 

How do I update my monthly subscription selections?

 

As a subscriber, you get to play 5 titles per subscription period. Pick any 5 titles from the subscriptions catalog and confirm your selections. You do not need to pick all your titles at once. As long as you have available slots, you can continue adding new titles anytime during your subscription cycle. Once a title is confirmed, you cannot change your selection until your next subscription cycle.

 

To manage your subscription titles:

 

  1. Sign in to your HTC account:
    • Web browser: Sign in to your HTC account on Viveport.com. Click ‘Subscription’ to see your title selections.
    • Mobile: Sign in to your HTC account on Viveport.com. Select the 'Store' menu, then select ‘Subscription’ to see details.
    • Desktop client: Launch the Vive Desktop client on your PC and sign in to your HTC Account, if required. Click ‘Subscription’ to see your title selections.
  2. Select the titles you want from the Subscription Catalog.
  3. Click "Confirm selections".

 

How can I cancel my subscription?

 

We would be sorry to see you go, but you may cancel your subscription at any time in your account profile page:

 

  1. Web browser: Sign in to your HTC account on Viveport.com. Click your avatar in the upper right corner, then click ‘Account’. On your account profile page, scroll to the bottom and click 'Cancel subscription'.
  2. Mobile: Sign in to your HTC account on Viveport.com. Select the top-right menu, then select ‘Account'. On your account profile page, scroll to the bottom and select 'Cancel subscription'.
  3. Desktop client: Launch the Vive Desktop client on your PC and sign in to your HTC Account, if required. Click your avatar in the upper right corner, then click ‘Account’. On your account profile page, scroll to the bottom and click 'Cancel subscription'.

 

In the desktop client, click your name in the upper right corner, then click 'Subscription'.'My Profile' page. Click 'cancel your subscription' to cancel, then click 'Yes' to confirm.

After you unsubscribe, you will have access to your subscription titles until the end of your subscription period.

 

I see a $1 charge on my credit card, what is that?

 

Some banks and credit card companies will deduct an 'authorization charge', which this usually is. This should be refunded by your bank soon after deduction. Contact your bank or credit card company if you have issues.

 

Can I pre-pay for a Viveport Subscription?

 

Yes. Viveport Subscriptions can be purchased in 3, 6 and 12 month periods at initial sign-up. (If you wish to buy multiples of these pre-paid plans, you can - eg buy 2 x 12 month plans and get 24 months of subscription.) After your Viveport Subscription period expires, you will be automatically transferred to a monthly auto-renewal.

 

Is the Viveport Subscription free trial included in these multiple month purchases?

 

No. As soon as they are purchased, Viveport Subscriptions for multiple months begin immediately. You can get a  free trial by signing up for Viveport Subscription as normal.

 

What happens if I cancel my Viveport Subscription before it expires?

 

You will continue to have access to your Viveport Subscription titles until the end of your purchased subscription period. After that time, your access to Viveport Subscription will cease.

 

Can I get refunded on a Viveport Subscription?

 

Unless there are technical issues that may have prevented you accessing Viveport Subscription content, refunds are not available for Viveport Subscriptions. If you feel you should be valid for a refund because of technical issues, contact Customer Care.

Viveport FAQ: How and where do I find my Viveport purchases?

After making a purchase on Viveport, you will need to download and install your new VR app via the Vive desktop app to access it.

 

Please note: Viveport purchases are not automatically added to your Steam Library. As an app store, Viveport is separate from Steam and you will not receive a Steam Key for any content purchased from Viveport.

 

To begin, login to Viveport (either via the web site, or the desktop app) and purchase your VR app. In our example, we're purchasing The Grand Canyon VR Experience.

 

After completing your purchase, you will be able to see your purchased app in the ‘Library’ tab on the Viveport web site, or the Viveport desktop app.

 

To download and install your VR app, you will need to access the Viveport desktop app.

 

You may already have the Viveport desktop app installed, as part of your Vive installation process. If you do, by default you should find a shortcut on your desktop called Vive.

 

If you do not have the Vive desktop client installed, download it here and follow the installation instructions. Use the second download link (Download Vive Software Installer) if you have already installed your HTC Vive.

Once installed, open the Viveport desktop app and login to your existing HTC account (which was used for your purchases). Check the Library section, then click the Downloads tab within the desktop client where you will find your apps ready to be downloaded and installed.

 

Click ‘Download’ to start your download. You can pause your download and resume later if you need to.

 

Once your download has completed, you will be able to access your new app from within VR in one of two ways:

From the SteamVR Dashboard:

  1. Open the SteamVR Dashboard by pressing the System button.
  2. From the Steam tab (located at the bottom of the SteamVR Dashboard), select ‘Library’. You will see all of your games in your Library. Both purchases installed via Steam and via Viveport can be found in this list.
  3. Locate the VR app you wish to launch and select it. This will take you to a page with information about the content or app.
  4. Select ‘Play’ to launch the content or app.

From the Vive tab in the SteamVR Dashboard:

  1. Open the SteamVR Dashboard by pressing the System button.
  2. Navigate to the Vive tab (located at the bottom of the SteamVR Dashboard). You will be presented with options to launch Vive Home from this tab (located on the left), information about content available on Viveport (located in the center), and a list of content purchased from Viveport (located on the right).
  3. Locate the content or app you wish to launch and select it. This will take you to a page with information about the content or app.
  4. Select ‘Play’ to launch the content or app 

How to redeem codes bundled with Vive, Vive Pro, and Vive Wireless Adapter

Where do I get the free/bundled games with my Vive, Vive Pro, and Vive Wireless Adapter?

When purchasing a Vive, a Viveport Subscription code is bundled with your purchase. To acccess your Viveport Subscription, you need to redeem a code which is supplied for you after purchase. There are two ways to receive the codes.

 

If you bought your Vive via Vive.com:

 

  • You should find a master code printed on a 6 x 8in card, which is included in the Vive's packaging. Codes are no longer emailed from HTC after purchase; you must look for the card in the packaging.
    • Please look carefully for the card! The code will be ten digits long, consisting of letters and numbers.
  • This master code should be redeemed at www.vive.com/code/
    • During redemption, you will need to create an HTC account. If you have already created an account (for example, to post here on the Forums) you can use it to redeem your code.
  • After redeeming the master code, you will be shown (and emailed) your Viveport Subscription code.
    • If you close or otherwise 'lose' the page with your code on, you can login here using the HTC account you created to look for codes previously redeemed. (This helps if you lose the email, too.)
  • You will redeem your Viveport Subscription code on our code redemption page.

If you cannot find a card in your Vive's packaging, or have other issues with redemption, please contact our Customer Care team. This post lists details on how to contact Customer Care, globally.

 

If you bought your Vive from a retailer:

 

  • For many retailers, a master code printed on a 6 x 8in card is included in the Vive's packaging. The code may also be issued separately by your retailer - on your sales receipt, or possibly emailed separately. (Australia/NZ customers: See separate note below.)
    • Please look carefully for the card! The code will be ten digits long, consisting of letters and numbers.
  • This master code should be redeemed at www.vive.com/code/
    • During redemption, you will need to create an HTC account. If you have already created an account (for example, to post here on the Forums) you can use it to redeem your code.
  • After redeeming the master code, you will be shown (and emailed)your Viveport Subscription code.
    • If you close or otherwise 'lose' the page with codes on, you can login here using the HTC account you created to look for codes previously redeemed. (This helps if you lose the email, too.)
  • You will redeem your Viveport Subscription code on our code redemption page

For most customers, if you do not receive your master code from your retailer, you should contact your retailer for further information and follow-up.

 

Australia / New Zealand customers: Retailers do not issue redemption codes in these territories. Please contact Vive Customer Care (AustraliaNew Zealand) with proof of purchase, instead.

 

Resold/used Vive purchases

 

If your Vive was purchased used, whether online or in-person, it may not include a master redemption code in the packaging. It is also possible that the code will be included, but it will already have been redeemed. In either case, replacement codes cannot be supplied by Customer Care. If the Vive was sold 'as new', you should contact the retailer you purchased the Vive from to get your code.

 

How to redeem your Vive/Viveport codes

 

To redeem a code for a Viveport app or game, a Viveport Gift Card or Viveport Subscription plan, you will visit our code redemption page: https://www.viveport.com/myredeem

 

Once you have redeemed a content code, you will find the new content in your Viveport Library. 

 

How to redeem a Steam key (code)

 

Codes from some previous Viveport bundles have to be redeemed on Steam (for example, Star Trek: Bridge Crew).
