Vive FAQ – System Requirements

 

To use Vive, Vive Pro, or Vive Wireless Adapter, your computer must meet the following recommended minimum system requirements.

 

Vive –

  • GPU: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060, AMD Radeon™ R9 480 equivalent or better
  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-4590/AMD FX™ 8350 equivalent or better
  • RAM: 4 GB or more
  • Video output: HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2 or newer
  • USB port: 1x USB 2.0 or better port
  • Operating system: Windows® 7 SP1, Windows® 8.1 or later, Windows® 10

To find out if your computer is ready for VR, test your PC.

 

Vive Pro –

  • Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-4590 or AMD FX™ 8350, equivalent or better.
  • Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 970 or AMD Radeon ™ R9 290, equivalent or better. View the complete list >
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM or more
  • Video out: DisplayPort 1.2 or newer
  • USB ports: 1x USB 3.0 or newer port
  • Operating system: Windows® 7, Windows® 8.1 or later, Windows® 10 
    Upgrade to Windows® 10 for the best results with the dual front facing cameras 
    *Driver is required to download and install before using VIVE Pro under Windows® 7.

Recommended graphics for the best experience is NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1070/Quadro P5000 or above, or AMD Radeon™ Vega 56 or above.

 

Vive Wireless Adapter –

  • Computer Type: Desktop computer with available PCIe Slot
  • Processor: Intel® Core i5-4590/AMD FX™ 8350 equivalent or better
  • GPU: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060, AMD Radeon™ RX 480 equivalent or better
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM or more
  • Operating system:
    • For VIVE Pro: 64-bit Windows® 10 or Windows® 7 SP1
    • For VIVE: 64-bit Windows® 10 or Windows® 7 SP1

How  can I check if my PC meets the minimum system requirements?

To find out if your computer is ready for VR, download and run the SteamVR Performance Test.

 

Disclaimer:
Recently, compatibility issues have arisen when using AMD AM4/TR4 socket base motherboards with the VIVE Wireless Adapter. We are working closely with our partners to resolve this issue as soon as possible. If you have an AMD AM4/TR4 socket base motherboard, we recommend waiting on VIVE Wireless Adapter purchase until the compatibility issue is solved. Please keep an eye on the VIVE website product page for further updates.

 

I don't have a spare HDMI port. What can I do to connect Vive with my PC?

If your computer doesn't have a spare HDMI port or doesn't support HDMI, you can use a Mini DisplayPort™ cable to connect your Vive to your PC. This cable is not provided.
