Hello,
Where can I find a 3D model of the Headset? The controller 3d files are shared with SteamVR as well as they were provided for the accessory contest. The headset however is available for sale on some 3D stock models sites and I'm not 100% sure if they are accurate.
It would make creating accesssories for the Vive a lot easier if we could get a 3D model directly from HTC.

Hi @unjay. Good question... I'll ask around. It's possible there may be some concerns about sharing this... but I don't know for sure. Will check and let you know.

Any update on this? I'm creating a number of accessories for it (have already created the accessories for Oculus Rift and Gear VR and others), sure would be nice to have a model.
I can't figure out why they'd not share it. You can buy the HMD for months now, and there are tons of tear-downs you can watch for free which would reveal a ton more than a CAD drawing.
This seems an effective way to keep people from creating accessories they're creating for other VR devices.
Thanks!
David

Me too. 3D models of the headset, controllers, etc. would be very helpful if provided by HTC. I'm designing an installation and I need accurate CAD files.
I would think this would be part of basic support for developers.

I have the same question. Is it possible to get a 3D CAD file for the outside of the VIVE? I'm especially interested in the curvature where the padding velcro's onto the body. Thanks!

Sorry for not providing a firm answer on this sooner. I'm on the case now and will report back sometime next week about our ability to share the production unit's 3D model.

I have confirmed with our engineering team that we will not publicly share a 3D model of the Vive HMD. Private message me (@VibrantNebula) if you have futher questions about this matter.
