Seluecos,

Thanks for your patience.

I am going to look at the laptop this morning and work through your suggestions again.

Re: Upgraded computer but a downgraded experience!

One thought I have had regarding the slight movement of the display when I move my head. Additionally I have noticed, even when I keep my head quite still, the display moves ever so slightly.

The base stations are at 2 meters, the recommended height, but I have noticed a slight vibration in the base stations when they are running. Might this, as the tripod mounts aren't rock steady, mean the base stations move and cause some variation on the display?

There isn't any other cause to make the base stations move, but their position and stability must be important in keeping the display steady too.

I am considering lowering the height of the tripods holding the base stations. So they might be more steady. Since in the room I first had it set up, they were lower and I didn't notice the slight variations that I do now.

@nandrews

They must be rock steady! Whatever you do make sure they are not moving while vibrating. And in my understanding that's very possible to be the cause of your issue. Currently in my set up one of the stations is sealed to the ceiling, while the other one is on a tripod, which is a cheap one and not premium quality which I can tell from the not straight position of the leading pod. And yet it does it job at holding the base station without moving. So... yeah try to adjust your tripods somehow so you make sure there is no any movement on the stations. Tracking issues can lead to lag as well, so so far that's the first thing to consider.

Re: Upgraded computer but a downgraded experience!

I still haven't worked thru' Seluecos suggestions, but I will do.

I have reduced the height of the base stations on their tripods. Which I intended to maybe stop and vibration that the motors might be causing.

I necessarily had to recalibrate the room set-up and now I seem to see a more steady picture (or I am more tolerant!). If it has worked then at the height they were the stations were getting some vibration into the tripods (they are also standing on carpet), which was making the tracking jump and also shake slightly. Now at the lower height I guess the tripods don't react to the base stations vibration.

I still get occasional glitches which seem to come when the computer is loading up a game or a new section and I am also moving my head.

@nandrews

Hello again, Nigel!

I get some glitches as well while loading, I think that's normal. After all the whole VR world it's yet to be improved with time. From hardware to software to glitches and bugs. But what matters is that while you play, create, or whatever you are not suppouse to have issues. Sometimes in games is also possible but still, it's a new era, but most of the time should be fine. Sometimes when I start the Vive and when I pick the two controllers from my desk, one of them is floating away for a second, but then everything's fine. Sometimes in load sessions some bugs appears,  and rare in game. If that's the case with you, it's alright.
