Audio bridge firmware update keeps failing

I recently updated the firmware of my HTC Vive Pro. Two of the three updates didn't have any problems, but the last one, the audio bridge update keeps failing. It doesn't keep me from using the Vive (I've got audio and video) but it would be nice to keep the firmware up to date.

The C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\logs\firmware_update.txt file has the following text:

Re: Audio bridge firmware update keeps failing

@BJG, perhaps try another USB port while I ask around on this one. It's pretty uncommon for firmware updates to fail like this and it's almost always tied to the specific computer that's pushing the firmware update. In one case, one use had to clean-install Windows to get past whatever was stopping the update.

Re: Audio bridge firmware update keeps failing

Thanks for your reply.

I tried different USB ports, both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0. But it didn't make any difference.

To attempt the firmware update on a different system, does that system only need to have a USB port, or does the firmware update require the displayport?

@BJG

USB will probably be fine.

Give it a try if you can.

If your base station has a Fault 02/03 error or a red light or both, the ONLY solution is to contact our support on vive.com and set up an RMA. There is no user fix for this issue.

Re: Audio bridge firmware update keeps failing

I tried, but it didn't work. Unfortunately it requires a displayport in addition to the USB to update the firmware. I only have one device with a displayport and that's the one that's refusing to update the firmware.

Re: Audio bridge firmware update keeps failing

@BJG

There could be some kind of issue with the driver wizard on the OS maybe. You are running the current version of Windows 10, correct?

Re: Audio bridge firmware update keeps failing

I just did a fresh install of windows 10 on my second PC (without a displayport), on which I then installed Steam. When I open SteamVR though it says "Not Ready" and the "update firmware" menu item is greyed out.

Is there perhaps a way to manually start the firmware update part of SteamVR (such as what you get if you update the lighthouses)?
