how can i get rid of smudges and streaks on the lenses?

i cleaned my vive with the included cloth, but there are still some smudges left and i noticed that (when wearing the vive) it also looks a bit streaked (like the right glas from those glasses in the picture: http://www.cbetternow.com/images/glasses/smudge-flash.jpg)

the cleaning cloth that came with the vive can't get them away, this happened after cleaning the lenses one time because they became a bit dusty.

Little thing to add: i see the streaks when wearing the headset and looking at white text on a black background the most (like the big steamvr home logo panel)

i'm basically seeing this, it's quite noticable:

@DjBasA

When did you first notice the "streaks"?
Do they appear on both sides of the headset or just one?

If wearing glasses in your Vive, make sure the glasses do not rub with the Vive lenses, VR headsets lenses use a soft plastic which is easily scratched. As for cleaning, something like eye glass cleaning fluid for plastic lenses works well using a microfiber cloth.

just started noticing them today (first day).

on both lenses on exactly the same places.

but i think i already figured it out, according to steam user ''shponglefan'':

''What you are seeing is lens glare. There's nothing you can do about that since it's a consequence of the lens design.''

(Notice the big ''Glare Test'' picture i posted above, thats basically what i see.)

i have glasses, but i don't wear them in the vive, it's not really needed and i find it quite uncomfortable, even tho the vive is ''glasses friendly''.

Are you talking about the concentric circles? The Fresnel lens design?
That isn't "glare" that's just how VR lens (all top end VR headsets have these) are designed. If they weren't, you wouldn't be able to wear glasses while playing, it would be much heavier and you'd have a dark spot right in the middle of your vision. Not to mention all the unnecessary God-rays you'd be seeing.

Re: how can i get rid of smudges and streaks on the lenses?

i don't mind the rounded lines themselfs, they are easy to ignore, the bleeding of the colors of some objects on the screen is just bothering me and got me concerned. (in the picture, how the white color of the text lights up the lines and make it look like the lenses are extremely dirty (wich isn't the case btw, i checked with shining my quite bright phone light into it and it looked as clean as it could be, i use the same method on my glasses to see if i cleaned them succesfully or if there are any smudges cause of the cleaning)

So to clarify: This started happening sometime after you started using it? It wasn't always this way? I'm thinking you're talking about this: http://i.imgur.com/KNAEdUn.gifv

Am I correct in that assessment?

Yep, thats basically what i'm seeing.
It's not that noticeable in games like the lab and portal stories vr, but it's still there
The effect is most noticable when looking at the steam panels in steamvr home. (Default map)

Re: how can i get rid of smudges and streaks on the lenses?

I can't recall it happening the very first time i treid it, my eyes were very sleepy so i probably didn't notice it.
Could it be that i'm wearing the headset pretty close to my eyes?
I noticed i made a smudge in the upper left corner of the right lense with my eye brow, i also have that happen quite alot with my glasses when i frown. (That smudge was very easy to remove with just the cloth)

I see the same thing on mine & I don't wear any glasses.

The Gif John linked to, what you are seeing are basically god rays, the thing is the Vive's screens are quite bright, I believe it is the brightest HMD on the market thus god rays will show up more depending on the contrast of the VR experience you are watching. Here's something to try for experimentation purposes...... find a VR experience where you see these rays, then in SteamVR settings, turn on "Night Mode" which will darken the Vive screens somewhat, try the same VR experience and see if the rays are reduced or are totally gone. God-rays are an unavoidable part of VR gaming, but it can be exacerbated by high-contrast scenes. Another thing you might want to do is adjust the IPD and the distance from your eyes to the lenses. That can help make them less noticable.
