It's time for CES! Watch the HTC Vive Press Conference today at 1pm Pa...

It's that time of year. So many tech giants and start ups flock to Las Vegas to show all of the cool new platforms, gadgets, and concepts. We're no different. By now you've all seen the image. If you haven't, let me show you what I'm talking about.

This week at CES, you just might find out what some of that awesome stuff is. Today, January 7th , HTC Vive will be hosting a press conference talking all about our Vive goodness. So make sure you are there. CNET will be live streaming the event. You can also stay right here in our forums and watch it as well. Enjoy! Can't wait to talk with you all about it!

I didn't see much of it aside from the end. Were the Base Station 2.0 announced as standalone yet? I need them so I can sell my old headset. Can't sell it without anything.........

@Zuhan,

This press conference did not have a section on 2.0 basestations - they are a Valve technology and Valve controls their distribution as well as their manufacturing. Any updates about 2.0 stations will come from Valve and when we're able to share Vive specific news on it, we'll certainly spread that news around the VR community.

Just my two cents here.

I must say Vive Cosmos looks very promising in my opinion. As a owner of OG Vive , Vive Pro HMD , Vive Pro Full kit + additional 1x 2.0 base station bought from ebay , finally I have my biggest probelm (tracking) so what perfect - ish. Inside out tracking looks very promising especially with more than 2 cameras for tracking. A few concerns however:

1. Vive Reality Platform - It looks promising and interesting indeed , but I hope that doesn't mean Cosmos will totally ditch SteamVR. Not able to use my SteamVR Library with Cosmos could be a big problem to me.

2. Even though you're teasing " sharpest display yet " I do hope that's not reffering to just better display with same resolution as Vive Pro. I hope the specs as a whole are also an upgrade.

3. I do hope  that the pricing of Vive Cosmos wouldn't match it's name "Cosmos"  Smiley LOL

Re: It's time for CES! Watch the HTC Vive Press Conference today at 1p...

So I contacted Valve about the Base Station 2.0 and this is what they told me.

"Valve Support does not have any information regarding future hardware releases, and we have no further information to share at this time.

HTC is the only group with 2.0 base stations available for purchase right now, so we suggest contacting them for more details on how to acquire them. Contacting their Enterprise support group may be a good idea, but otherwise we suggest purchasing 1.0 base stations for now since they will work with all currently released Vive equipment.

Sorry we can't help further with this, but if you have any other questions, please let us know. "

So............. Now they are telling me to go through HTC about the Base Station 2.0 lol

@Zuhan

Just to answer your question: We currently only offer 2.0 basestations in the Vive Pro full kits.

Thanks,

"Welcome to the desert of the real."

If your base station has a Fault 02/03 error or a red light or both, the ONLY solution is to contact our support on vive.com and set up an RMA. There is no user fix for this issue.

@SuperNikoPowerHi,

can be "Vive PRO Eye" used with glasses (eye tracking)?

Thanks

@3DA

I'll check to see if we can get an official comment on this - since CES is ongoing I may not hear back about this for some time. The technology is Tobii's eyetracking technology - Tobii systems tend to work with most types of single vision glasses. The determining factor with Tobii tracking tends to be the base reflectivity of your lenses which can be heavily influenced by your coatings.

@VibrantNebula

thank you for the answer and info (Tobii), it sounds logical (reflectivity).
